LATE MODEL

Aaron Bapst of Jackson, Ohio breezed to his first ever Portsmouth Raceway Park Track Championship in 2001. In 17 A-Main starts, Bapst posted four feature wins, a dozen top five finishes and 13 top 10's. The 25 year-old Bapst became the youngest Late Model driver to ever win a PRP title, as the 2001 points race saw him fend off such veteran competitors as Bill Bocook, Delmas Conley, Barry Bragdon and Kenny Christy.

STREET STOCK

Mike Steele of Catlettsburg, KY proved that persuverance pays off as 2001 brought him his very first PRP Street Stock Championship - an honor which had eluded him for nine straight seasons. Steele, who had posted several runner-up finishes in the Portsmouth Raceway Park points races down through the years, had a season in which everything went his way. His six feature wins, 13 top fives and 14 top 10's were all PRP bests regardless of division.

BOMBERS

Donald Sensabaugh of South Portsmouth, KY mounted one solid finish after the other on his way to the 2001 PRP Bomber Track Championship. While Sensabaugh never actually won a race, his consistency more than compensated for it from a points standpoint. In 10 A-Main starts, Sensabaugh recorded eight top 10's and six top five's as he narrowly skated past runner-up Jeff Stevens by 25 points - the closest margin of victory in any of Portsmouth Raceway Park's four primary divisions in 2001.
