#51 Craig Leist

Craig 'Fudge' Leist of Waverly, Ohio, used consistency to capture the Late Model title. While he never finished at the front, Leist was almost always near the point. MODIFIED

#35 Tony DeHart-Modified
#35 Tony DeHart

Tony DeHart of Franklin Furance, Ohio, captured the Modified championship in the most hotly contested division. DeHart led with five wins, but there were four other dirvers with two or more victories. When he did not win, DeHart was close to the front with 10 finishes between second and fifth places. This is the second division in which DeHart has captured a driving title. He was the bomber champion in 1994, 1995, and 1996. He also holds the track record of (4) track championships.

STREET STOCK

John Melvin - 81 - Street Stock
#81 John Melvin

John Melvin of Coal Grove, Ohio, was the only repeat champion at PRP. He again ran away with the Street Stock division. Drivers found about the only way to beat Melvin was for him to have mechanical problems. Melvin captured 10 features. He had six other top 10 finishes in just 18 races.

BOMBERS

#4C Bo Cox * Bomber
#4C Bo Cox

Bo Cox of Waverly, Ohio, turned in the most dominating performance in track history to capture the Bomber title. Cox parked his car in victory lane a dozen times. In the process, cox broke the old track record of 11 A-Main wins, which was set in 1996 by Modified driver Jeff Cunningham. Cox was so dominant that he finished below fifth only one time in 18 races. Besides Cox, only two drivers, Adams Jordan (4) and Bubby McCarty (2), won Bomber features.
