2008 (Continued)

Our “tentative” 2008 schedule has been posted online throughout the winter months. The true finished product will be released in the next few days. Due to some sponsor obligations, a few events have been shuffled around, but there have not been many changes.
All of our sanctioned Late Model events (MACS, BoBS, IRS, and Lucas Oil) are set. For those of you planning a summer vacation, our summer off-day will be June 28th. There are few TBA (To Be Announced) dates which do appear on our schedule. Whether we race on those dates will be determined at a later time. These TBA dates are good to have in case mother-nature would force the rescheduling of sponsored or sanctioned event.
At PRP we are blessed to have some of the country’s absolute best fans, greatest drivers, and most loyal crew members. We live in a hot bed of dirt-racing activity, and it is our commitment to put forth an entertaining program for all of you.
This season we have several high-paying events, and a multitude of sponsors who have come on board for the 2008 campaign.

EVENT SPONSORS
Annual patrons such as the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home and Flowers Monument Co., Weaver Gas and Oil, Glockner Toyota, the Dillow Family, and the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. will once again be title sponsors for events which appear on the 2008 schedule. It’s also our pleasure to welcome Gahm’s Car & Truck Center, L & G Construction, and B & C Flooring.
The Roger W. Davis Funeral Home and Flowers Monument Co. of West Portsmouth will again be associated with PRP’s annual Modified Shootout, which could potentially be the largest Modified event in PRP’s 18-year history.
Weaver Gas & Oil located on St. Rt. 104 in West Portsmouth continues to patronize PRP, as he’s done throughout the history of our track. Weaver’s is glad to help out wherever it can, and we appreciate its support. Glockner Toyota located in its brand new, state-of-the-are facility on the Scioto Trail in Portsmouth has leaped on board for the August 30th Lucas Oil show paying $10,000 to win. The Toyota brand and Lucas Oil continue to move forward in their respective ranks, and it is only fitting they be together this year at PRP.
It is to Portsmouth Raceway Park’s delight that the Dillow Family will once again hold the Fred Dillow Memorial at Portsmouth Raceway Park. This year will mark the 14th running of this storied event, and it is an honor for PRP to once again be its host.
The Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Franklin Furnace, OH is once again welcomed to PRP. Portsmouth Raceway’s official soft drink will sponsor the big MACS show on July 5th.
It’s a also a pleasure to welcome Gahm’s Car & Truck Center on board in 2008. The Lucasville-based company will be sponsor this season’s Kids Night which is always full of fun.
It is with great pride we also say hello to L & G Construction as well as B & C Flooring. L & G Construction will add $1,000 to the Bomber Division’s payoff one night. B & C Flooring “Hold it Flat to the Floor Night” will take place for the Late Model Division on a select evening. During B & C Flooring “Hold it Flat to the Floor Night” $500 will be given to the night’s Late Model fast qualifier and an additional $500 will be awarded to the night’s feature winner making the race a total of $2,500 to win.

NIGHTLY BONUSES
PBM Performance Parts will again have exclusive naming rights of the PBM Tower in turn three where all drivers’ meetings take place. PBM will also provide a $100-dollar PBM Performance Parts Bonus to the Modified Feature winner making every Modified A-Main at least $700 to win. PBM will also sponsor PRP’s nightly Hot Lapping sessions, nightly public address readings of the current Modified Point Standings, and the Modified B-mains.
Swartz Race Cars of Minford, OH will again supply the $100-dollar Swartz Bonus, which goes to the Limited Late Model A-Main winner in addition to the $500 earnings supplied by the track.
Pendleton Truck Sales of Lucasville, Up Front Motorsports of New Boston, C.P.’s Racing Parts and Supplies of South Shore, and Rick Walker Construction of Portsmouth will all sponsor Hardcharger Awards for specified divisions. Markwest Hydrocarbon of South Shore, Ky. will also pitch in with an extra Modified Hardcharger Bonus on select nights.

MORE FUN FOR THE FANS AND CHILDREN

Together Big Sandy Superstore and Bocook’s Garage will again team up to provide a couple of extremely lucky fans with the “Best Seat in the House” to watch the races at PRP. Just as they did last season, these businesses will supply two recliners on the second floor of PRP’s press box where a pair of fans will be permitted to sit and watch the show.
Once again, the ever-popular “Boonie Buck” will be circulating at PRP in 2008. This unique and unmistakable currency can be used at all PRP concessions and will be provided to lucky race fans through several interesting and entertaining means. Whether it’s guessing the winner of an upcoming race correctly, answering a PRP trivia question, or simply showing your PRP spirit with a big “Yee-Haw”, earning a Boonie Buck will be one of the most enjoyable and unforgettable sources of income a race fan can have.
Again this year, PRP will hold a victory lane party following the final race of the night, which will be sponsored by Impact Graphics of Vanceburg, KY. At this time, all kids who wish will be able to come down on the track and have their picture taken with final feature winner of the night, which most usually will be the Bomber A-Main victor.
This will provide children with a chance to get on the track, close to a race car, and right beside a driver without holding up any action for those fans who need to get up early the following morning.
For the kids who hang around until the end of the show, there might just be a Boonie Buck, some candy, or even their very own coloring sheet with a racecar on it for them to design how they like.
PRP will once again be selling programs and 50/50 tickets. The correct program can make any fan a winner, as door prizes are generally given nightly using program numbers. Door prizes typically take place during intermission with a few random occurrences throughout the night just to make sure everyone is on their toes.
PRP’s nightly 50/50 drawing occurs following the Late Model A-Main unless otherwise noted. While half of that pot goes home with the possessor of the winning 50/50 ticket, the other half goes into PRP’s Drivers Point Fund and is used for paying end-of-the-season points money.

BE COURTEOUS AND MOST OF ALL HAVE FUN
As the 2008 season gets set to roll, everyone is gearing up for what is for sure to be a memorable and outstanding year. We can’t wait to see all of the drivers, fans, and crew members once again.
PRP dirt-track racing is a wonderful experience and great fun. Regardless of who you are, where you’re from, or what you do, Portsmouth Raceway Park can be a fun place for you.
Some people love speed. Some love cars. Others attend just to cheer on one particular driver. I’m sure there are few who attend PRP races that aren’t even big race fans. They just enjoy being around people in the great outdoors on a beautiful weekend night. Still others come just to eat Portsmouth Raceway’s delicious food.
Whatever category you fall in, you’re welcome at PRP. Just remember to be kind and courteous to everyone around you. While you might have your favorite driver whom you like yelling for, the people beside you have the same right to cheer on whoever their favorite driver is.
Always be conscience of the words coming out of your mouth. Little ears and big hearts are everywhere.
With the final touches being placed on this year’s schedule, there’s no reason this season can’t be PRP’s best seasons ever.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the races.

Thanks a bunch,
Chuck Greenslate
